Why Peptides Are Key to Your Skincare Routine

What do peptides do in skin care?

Peptides are short chain amino acids that work as signaling molecules to trick your skin into regenerating new collagen. Popular peptides hyaluronic acid and fibronectin both work to improve skin tone, firmness, and hydration. These restorative proteins stimulate the cellular renewal process to improve the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines in addition to enhancing the ability to hold onto water.

All skin types can benefit from peptides. For normal skin types, peptides provide essential nourishment, helping to prevent premature aging and maintain healthy hydrated skin. In oily skin, peptides regulate oil production, as well as reduce the appearance of enlarged pores. Peptides also magnify hydration and strengthen the skin's moisture barrier benefiting those with dry skin types. Combination skin requires peptides to address multiple concerns like hydrating dry areas while also regulating oil production in the T-zone. Peptides are gentle and work well on sensitive skin types as they soothe and calm irritation while supporting the skin's natural repair processes.

Are ceramides or peptides better?

They are both beneficial but serve different roles in skincare. Ceramides are fatty lipids that hold our skin cells together thereby strengthening and restoring our skin barrier. Peptides help enhance skin hydration by attracting and holding onto water which strengthens the moisture barrier.

Can you use peptides every day?

Yes! Peptides have antioxidant properties that help protect the skin from environmental stressors such as UV radiation and pollution, which contribute to premature aging. By incorporating peptides into your daily skincare routine, you can effectively address multiple skincare concerns.
