May is Melanoma Awareness Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of early detection and prevention of melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer. The phrase "GET NAKED!" may sound unconventional, but it serves as a powerful reminder to prioritize our skin health. Be sure to perform monthly self-skin checks as they are crucial in detecting any changes or abnormalities. By becoming familiar with our own skin, we can identify potential warning signs of melanoma early on.
In addition to self-examinations, it is essential to schedule an annual dermatological skin check with a Board-Certified Dermatologist. Dr. Azadeh Shirazi, MD is a Board-Certified Dermatologist.

Specializing in medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology, Dr. Shirazi received her undergraduate and medical degrees from the University Of Kentucky College of Medicine. After doing a Research Fellowship at Harvard Medical School at the Wellman Center for Photomedicine, she completed her residency training in Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery at the prestigious Mayo Clinic in addition to completing her training in dermatology and cosmetic surgery at the University of California San Diego.
